Processing process of silicone foam

The processing of silicone foam is mainly divided into two types of process routes: solid-state molding and liquid injection. The core process and key technologies are as follows:

1、 Production process of solid silicone foam

Raw material preparation

Mix and stir the silicone rubber base material, foaming agent (such as hydroxyl compounds), flame retardant (composite system of aluminum hydroxide/spherical silicon, etc.), and coloring agent according to the formula ratio to form a uniform foam precursor composition.

Foaming and degassing

Static foaming: The mixture is left to stand in a constant temperature environment, and the foaming agent decomposes to produce gas, forming a microporous structure;
Centrifugal degassing: Excess gas is discharged through centrifugal separation, and the cell density is controlled within the range of 0.16-0.20 g/cm ³.

Compression molding

Mold pretreatment: Preheat to 160-180 ℃, spray food grade release agent (dosage 0.5-1.5 mg/cm ²);
Quantitative loading: Cut the rubber material according to 1.1-1.2 times the cavity volume (weight error ≤± 0.5%);
Sulfurization shaping:
Initial pressure stage: 5-10 MPa low-pressure exhaust to prevent bubbles;
High pressure stage: 15-25 MPa holding pressure, vulcanization time=thickness (mm) × 1.5 minutes (7.5 minutes for 5mm thickness), temperature strictly controlled at 170 ± 2 ℃.

Post processing technology

Flyedge removal: Medical grade products need to undergo -70 ℃ freeze embrittlement trimming;
Surface purification: plasma cleaning of residual release agent to ensure a dyne value greater than 50 mN/m;
Polishing and shaping: Mechanical polishing of the foam surface after demolding.

2、 Liquid Silicone (LSR) Foam Injection Process

Raw material mixing

Two component liquid silica gel (A=1:1) is added with crosslinking agent and catalyst, and homogenized by a precision mixer.

Injection molding

Mold preheating: temperature set at 170-200 ℃;
Precise injection: The mixed rubber material is injected into the mold cavity at high speed through an injection machine, and the pressure and temperature are controlled in conjunction to eliminate bubbles.

High temperature curing

The vulcanization reaction is completed inside the mold, and the catalyst accelerates cross-linking and curing (the time is adjusted according to the thickness of the product).
